The Green Dot Charter High Schools and Watts Village Theater Company combine their talents for the second year in a row to help the students prove how much talent is locked away within their community and how the arts can help bring the students out of their shells and better their environment. After the success of the 2012 production of Simply Maria, the team decided to raises the stakes and make yet another bold step forward with UNLockeD.

UNLockeD, a brand new stage play that has been co-written by the same students that will be performing it, is a tale based on events that occurred prior to the creation of the Green Dot Locke Family of High Schools and the progress that has been made since.

Follow along with the students in UNLockeD, a dance and music incorporated production, that explores the perspectives of the teachers, security, media, and the students themselves who had been involved with the event. Begin to discover the truth around the events that lead to the formation of the Locke Family of High Schools and what still needs to be done so that the students and their community can reach the higher ground that they so strive for.

The program itself not only allows the students to combine their talents to perform in a stage production, but also has them working and learning alongside industry professionals to gain a deeper understanding into all aspects of theatrical production.

Performances will be on Friday, March 15th & Saturday, March 16th at 7pm; Sunday, March 17th at 2pm
Animo Locke High School, 325 E 111th St Los Angeles, CA 90061
Tickets will be Pay-What-You-Can.
