The fastest and quickest mark shall go first. The production that I worked on out of Union Station in 2013, ‘Invisible Cities’, has been marked as a 2014 Pulitzer Prize finalist! Congratulations to all of our production team that worked hard to ensure that it had hundreds of satisfied audience members each for each performance.
To follow up, I have two brand new shows that are opening soon. As the end of our third year of a grant project between Watts Village Theater Company & Green Dot Charter Schools, we are pleased to announce that this years brand new play, ‘The Storm in the Garden of Justice’, will be having it’s world premiere in a little less than three weeks on May 16th, 17th, and 18th. The students have worked hard this year to bring about this brand new production involving singing, dancing, and live music and on stage that they helped to design themselves. In the coming weeks, I will release another post dealing with the world premiere of ‘The Storm in the Garden of Justice’ with all the show times and address of the three day student performance. Keep your calendars marked and be prepared to see all their hard work and dedication come together over these past two months when they grace the stage on May 16th, 17th, and 18th at Animo Watts High School. More detail coming soon.
Last, but not least, I’d like to announce a brand new series of plays that opens at Theatre of N.O.T.E. called ‘Do Not Disturb’. It’s a series of 4 plays that combine to form a spectacular evening that will leave you laughing, crying, and wanting to see more from this talented group of performers. I have been credited as the Lighting Designer for this production and, having seen their work, I highly suggest that you take the time to go see them.
‘Do Not Disturb‘, a funny, dark and engrossing evening of one-act plays by Joshua Fardon, directed by Kevin Hoffer. ‘Do Not Disturb’ features uninvited guests, provocative ideas, proposals, longing, violence, foul-mouthed angels, alcoholism, sex, hurtling statues, Facebook, infidelity, stalking, cartoons and unsolved equations. This night takes you to the edge of madness then gives you a shove. Not for the weak or the faint of heart, ‘Do Not Disturb’ is an equal-opportunity boundary-breaker which provides something to disturb every sensibility.
‘Do Not Disturb’ includes:
Due Diligence
A world premiere about a micro-managing single father who interrogates his future daughter-in-law over dinner.
Soon My Angel Came Again
In which a troubled couple is haunted by a foul-mouthed, truth-speaking angel.
Blanks
In which a wealthy couple makes a proposal to a younger, poorer couple.
Rise
A world premiere about a woman who rings the doorbell of a blocked mathematician and announces she’s an old friend who’s been posting to his Facebook wall every day for the past four years…but the man has no memory of her.
