A SPECIAL Star Wars Theatrical Event!

Special_A

On May 25th, 1977, George Lucas changed the world forever with the theatrical release of his blockbuster and epic space opera Star Wars. Now, over 40 years later, the franchise has continued to entertain and amaze adults who grew up with the stories that happened long, long ago and children who now dream about a galaxy far, far away. The historical film franchise has been expanded upon and developed into countless films, television shows, video games, books, amusement park rides, merchandise…and ONE holiday special that never aired on national television again.

In 1978, movie brats and network executives hoping to cash in on the success of what became the highest grossing film of all time joined forces to create a television special. Conceptualized as a jaw dropping spectacular that you wouldn’t want to miss, The Star Wars Holiday Special became unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. SPECIAL! is the true-ish comedic story of how the smash hit space opera lead to the development of the worst variety show in the galaxy that aired on CBS only once and became a cult classic in the process.
